What We Do
At the heart of Al Amal’s mission is a simple objective: help people with diabetes understand their condition, live healthier lives, and prevent serious complications.
Diabetes can have a significant impact on a person’s health and daily life. With appropriate education, regular monitoring, healthy lifestyle choices, and access to the right support, many complications can be prevented or delayed.
Al Amal therefore works to empower people with diabetes and their families with the knowledge, tools, and support they need to better manage the disease.
Diabetes Awareness and Education
Education is one of the association’s main priorities.
Al Amal provides information and educational activities covering different aspects of diabetes, helping patients and their families better understand the disease, its management, and the importance of regular monitoring.
The association also keeps its members informed about developments in diabetes care by collecting and sharing information from healthcare professionals, specialists, medical providers, and organizations working in the field.
Support for Patients and Their Families
Living with diabetes can sometimes be challenging, not only for patients but also for their families.
Al Amal provides guidance, support, and education to help patients and their relatives better understand diabetes and adapt their daily habits accordingly.
The association’s support can extend beyond its premises. Its teams provide assistance and awareness activities in homes, workplaces, and schools, helping create healthier and safer environments for people with diabetes wherever they are.
Diabetes and Nutrition
Nutrition plays an important role in diabetes management.
The association provides education and guidance on topics related to diabetes, healthy eating, and nutrition. Members are encouraged to adopt balanced eating habits that can contribute to better diabetes control and overall health.
Healthy Cooking
Al Amal also promotes healthy cooking activities, helping members discover practical ways to prepare nutritious meals while maintaining a balanced lifestyle.
Preventing Diabetes Complications
Prevention is a central part of the association’s work.
Al Amal raises awareness about the potential complications associated with diabetes and provides information on how regular monitoring and healthy lifestyle choices can help reduce risks.
The association supports screening and monitoring activities, including:
- Retinal screening
- Arterial screening
- Kidney screening
- Blood pressure and blood sugar measurements
These activities help raise awareness about the importance of regular health monitoring and early detection.
Insulin Pump Education
For people using insulin pumps, understanding how to use and manage their equipment properly is essential.
Al Amal provides education and training for insulin pump users, helping them gain the knowledge required to use their treatment safely and effectively.
Physical Activity and Sports
A healthy lifestyle is an important part of diabetes management.
The association encourages its members to remain physically active through sports activities organized for both women and men registered with the association.
These activities promote movement, well-being, social connection, and healthier lifestyles within the diabetes community.
Taking Support Beyond the Association
Al Amal believes that support should be available wherever people need it.
For this reason, the association develops activities and services that reach people in their homes, workplaces, and schools.
By bringing awareness and support directly into the community, the association aims to help people with diabetes maintain a healthy and safe environment in their everyday lives.
This community-based approach also helps families, educators, employers, and other members of society better understand the needs of people living with diabetes.
Raising Awareness Across the Community
Diabetes awareness is not limited to people who have already been diagnosed with the condition.
Al Amal works to reach broader segments of society through awareness programs designed to promote prevention, early detection, and healthier lifestyles.
Awareness Programs in Neighborhoods, Schools, and Workplaces
The association organizes diabetes awareness programs in:
- Neighborhoods
- Schools
- Workplaces
- Community spaces
These programs aim to provide accessible information about diabetes, its risk factors, prevention, symptoms, and the importance of healthy living.
Awareness and Screening Campaigns
Al Amal participates in awareness campaigns that include on-site blood pressure and blood sugar measurements.
These initiatives help bring basic health screening closer to the community while encouraging people to pay greater attention to their health.
Multidisciplinary Medical Campaigns
The association also participates in multidisciplinary medical campaigns organized in partnership with other associations and organizations.
These campaigns bring together different areas of expertise to provide communities with broader access to health information, screening, and support.
Sharing Knowledge and Building Partnerships
